Singapore River

This weeks photos are all taken along the Singapore River. I don't go to this area to often because it is a bit out of the way for me right now. There is a new MRT line that will open in a year or two making it much easier to reach. I started from the Merlion where the river empties into Marina Bay and went almost to Kim Seng Road.

This is a shot of the new pedestrian Jubilee Bridge, next to the older and still in use Esplanade Bridge. Now we have some separation from the traffic when out walking or running. You can see a peek of the CBD between the two bridges. I've seen other photographers post photos with this angle of this subject and it looked much more artistic and creative. I think this sort of just looks like I'm under a bridge, no biggie. I'll try again another time.

A view of the city skyline and the Esplanade Bridge to the left. It's a beautiful city for sure.

This could almost be a post about Singapore's bridges. I think this is the Fullerton Road Bridge. So much construction at Esplanade Park I got a little turned around.

The Fullerton Hotel.

New Bridge Rd.

Another shot of New Bridge Road with a bit of the Marina Bay Sands in the background and a bit of the Parliament House on the left.

The Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts with a River Cruise Boat.

Clarke Quay. Its mostly restaurants and night clubs, has a touristy feel to it. The tall building to the left has Liang Court, a mall with a few furniture stores and a great book store.

Construction on the river. They are actually moving the river to make way for a new MRT stop.

I took my bike on this trip. Probably not the best bike riding route since you have to push your bike through all of the bridge underpasses. A lot of on and off and bike walking.

The Alkaff Bridge. Painted by an artist in 2004, one of three pedestrian bridges in this area.

Another view...

and another...

and another.

OK, moving on.

Like the new condos with the older looking buildings in front.

Sort of a cool looking pedestrian bridge.

Shade! OH YES! I stopped here for a bit. When I got home from this bike ride I looked like I got caught in a rainstorm because I was so sweaty. You can see from the photos though it was a clear sunny day. This was my turn around point.

Working my way back home this is the view on the opposite side of Clarke Quay.

Happy Friday!!!
