Baby Duck Palooza

Right outside our home there is a bay inlet with a dock. Some of our neighbors have boats there. We do not have a boat and we don't really want one so I thought it was sort of silly to rent this place since we are not boat people. I am so glad we did though because the water right outside is so peaceful and calming to look at every day. I absolutely love it and really appreciate having this view. Lately there has been a lot of baby ducks gathering on the water. At first it was 4 or 5, now they have grown to 12-15 baby ducks at a time. They all come together in the water and swim around together, they are soooo darn cute. Maybe a little too small and too far away for my 18-250 zoom lens but I photographed them anyway. I couldn't help myself. Enjoy!

Aren't they cute? See what I mean though about my lens, not really sharp enough and I am fully zoomed. But still worth posting, I think.

They scare easily. As soon as I walk out there they swim a different direction.

Love these flying baby duck photos.

The photo on the left is the original and the one on the right is edited to look even more blurry and in black and white. I think I prefer the one on the right. I always use Pixlr.com for free online photo editing.

Now you see them...

Now you don't.

Popping back up...

Cuteness overload.

And scarf #2 is complete! woot woot!

Happy Friday!!!

Seal Slough Pelicans

The day after I took the Egret photos from last weeks blog post I went back to try and find the pelicans. Very happy I did. These photos were taken in the same settings as the last time, Manual mode, F11, ISO 800, handheld, playing around with shutter speed depending on the light.

Brown Pelicans, ducks in the background.

I think this is also a Brown Pelican. Doesn't look exactly like the first two but I guess there are variations.

Nice clear photo.

So pretty.

Blue Heron, he was in the sun and I only got a slight silhouette shot then he took off.

How lucky was this one? wow

American White Pelicans. They have been hanging out in Foster City for the last couple of weeks in large flocks. This (I assume) is a smaller group than what has been seen in the area recently.

They slowly move along dipping their heads in the water and coming up with their bills full.

Would have been a good reflection if not for the seagull stealing the shot.

If I had been in S Mode I think these action shots would have come out better.

Still pretty good photo. With this turning out so well its hard to really try with S Mode. I'm too afraid I'll end up with no photos.

Watch the mud slide off his feet in the next photo.

Going to a less crowded spot?

Nope, not less crowded.

So many birds, Blue Heron in the background with his head down, Black Necked Stilts and an Egret all behind the Pelican and Seagulls.

Another great set of flying pelican shots.

wow

Pelican on the far left has an itch...

Scratch must have felt good!

Happy Friday!!!

Seal Slough Egrets

These photos were all taken in Manual Mode, handheld, no tripod about the same as last week. Too many photos to include in my blog so I'll try to add a link to the album.

I realized some of these egrets have yellow bills and some have black. The yellow bills are on the Great Egret and the black or dark bills are the Snowy Egrets aka small white heron.

Snowy Egret.

Snowy Egret

Great Egret

So pretty.

Not the same egret as the last photo, just the same pose.

The Great Egret hanging out. They really let me get so close to them this day.

Snowy Egret looking for a snack.

Beautiful reflection shot.

I just got lucky with these flying egret photos.

Look at that beautiful bird.

Here is the link to see the rest of the photos.

Happy Friday!!!
